Savanna is learning new commands: “Stay” is the hardest for her right now. She comes when called, she can sit when given the command and “leave it” or “do not touch” is mostly understood. We are working on Savanna not having her attack Sierra which then causes an uproar with Sierra. Savanna’s coat is also starting to change from black to silver slowly. By the end of her first year she should be mostly silver.
I am taking Savanna out to the local tourist shopping center where she is learning to not bark at strangers. Savanna is a barker, more so than Sierra, so getting her comfortable in new places should have been started several months back, but we are doing now more often.
We bought a better car system designed to keep the dogs in the back seat without blocking our view. It seems like now we are riding in a police car with poodle passengers in the back. Hoping the Poodle Police are not called so that we can continue to go on road trips without two poodles pushing their way forward to sit in the passenger seats on our laps. The netting we used before was not working as Savanna is much more aggressive and pushy if she wants to get something, for now, Savanna can’t find a way to move up front. We have each dog in their harness and strapped in for safety, yet allows for some movement in the back seat. They now have to enter from the back of the car to move into the passenger seats then get strapped in. I guess for those who have children and have used car seats etc, this is not a big deal, but with a puppy and an adult dog, some assemblance of order is necessary for our safety and sanity.
We are all looking forward to autumn weather with walks in the Taos Ski Valley as the weather gets cooler. I am prepared with fleece jackets, rain coats and snow jackets along with Mutlucks for icy snow play, which probably means it will be a dry winter, LOL….
Sierra’s colors has always been purple and Savanna’s colors are lavender/lilac.
Sierra and Savanna. Not only do these sound the same, but both are the names of places and both invoke nature. Sierra means mountain range and Savanna means a large, grassy plain, so it’s fun that they’re opposites as well.
